Well for the past few weeks I’ve been holed up in my writing cave working dilligebtly on my latest Totally Five Star novel. It had been a bear to work on since it was a bit out of my depth but that’s what I liked about it. It challenged me and was proving to be quite satisfying to write.
If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook you might already know what happened last night. I was in the home stretch of the longest book I’ve written in a long time, one that I had planned to send to my editor this week, when my cat decided to dump a glass of water into my laptop before I could back it up…
So after a few choice words, I jammed it in a bag of rice and hoped for the best after all if it bounced back from the great meringue armageddon of 2014, it could bounce back from this, right? If it didn’t work I at least had a backup laptop. I might have to go back to the old save and rewrite a few thousand words but it was doable.
Fast forward to this morning. Laptop still not working. Back in the rice it went. So I get out the backup… Also not working. I took a few deep breaths. That’s fine. I’ve still got my phone, only I can’t connect to my home server with it to get my files. So I figure I’ll just write from where I left off and puzzle out how I’m going get to get the rest of the file as I go. And how I’m going to continue the blog posts and such that I’m supposed to be doing for the release of Fuel to the Fire…
Not going to lie, I could so easily lose it right now…
But like a wise man once said, if life gives you lemons, make them your bitch.
