Whew, it’s been a crazy couple of months. Time to get back on track!
To answer the question, I take a deep breath and make myself step away from the keyboard. If I don’t, I end up working on something else and burning out (this happens more often than I’d like). There have been occasions where I’ve managed to write book after book, but the hiatus I need after those ends up being longer than I’d like.
On the break, I’ll catch up on things around the house or in the garden and maybe get a pastry or something else I don’t usually allow myself to have. But for the most part, celebrations are saved for contract signings and release days! On those occasions I buy myself an orchid plant and have some champagne respectively.
